ABOUT BroadbandMT

On May 17, 1955, the Montana Telephone Association was founded in Great Falls, MT. In 1998 the name was changed the Montana Telecommunications Association.  Now called BroadbandMT and located in Helena, MT, BroadbandMT continues to provide public policy advocacy and consultation, communications, training and education, industry events and related services to Montana’s locally owned community based broadband providers.  BroadbandMT members collectively have been serving Montana for over 700 years.

BroadbandMT member companies provide advanced telecommunications services to business, government and residential consumers in Montana. BroadbandMT members employ over 1,000 Montanans and invest nearly $100 million each year in capital and operating expenditures. With tens of thousands of miles of fiber optic facilities (and growing every year) deployed throughout the state (see the Montana Fiber Map), BroadbandMT members continue to invest in end-to-end fiber-based high-speed broadband Internet service to rural Montana, despite the substantial challenges of overcoming long distances, high costs and low population density.  BroadbandMT members serve nearly 100% of the anchor institutions in their service areas with fiber and are building out the rest of their networks with future-proof fiber infrastructure while maintaining superior customer experience.

By investing in tomorrow’s technology today, BroadbandMT members are connecting rural Montana to the future.
